We Now Offer In-Office Tubal Sterilization

We are very happy to now offer our patients the option of ESSURE at our office. ESSURE is a sterilization procedure that is done in the office! The purpose of ESSURE is to permanently block a woman's fallopian tubes so that she will not become pregnant. The advantage of ESSURE is that the procedure is quick, simple, and is done in the privacy of the doctor's office. The anesthesia used for ESSURE is local numbing anesthesia. With ESSURE there is no need to go to the hospital for the procedure, there is no major anesthesia, and there is no need for the time, complexity, and costs of being a patient receiving surgery in the hospital. It is recommended (but not required) that a woman who receives ESSURE should get an x-ray test in the hospital a few months after ESSURE to confirm that ESSURE is blocking the tubes as it should. The major advantage of ESSURE is that the woman no longer needs to be concerned about becoming pregnant. Other advantages include that the procedure is simple and quick enough that it should not interfere with a woman's lifestyle or schedule. There are no postoperative or post anesthesia medications to recover from and there is no incision to heal, care for, or treat with any postoperative special handling.

The financing of ESSURE is simple enough that a woman can just pay for the ESSURE procedure directly to the office. In addition, ESSURE is a procedure that is covered by many private and governmental insurance programs with approriate co-pays and deductibles in place as is true for any medical care treatment or procedure.

Paitents can call the office in advance to discuss medical and financial issues associated with ESSURE prior to actually scheduling the procedure. We encourage you to do this. We will be happy to answer any questions you have.

You May Not Need Major Surgery

Dr. Gray is happy to offer his patients a new procedure called Novasure edometrial ablation. This is a simple outpatient procedure, involving no incisions, that changes the lining of the uterus so that abnormal bleeding is stopped or greatly lessened. It is usually a minor, simple procedure that can eliminate the need for hormone treatment or hysterectomy.
